IGGY is a modern urban apartment complex in Malmö, Sweden with 69 rental apartments and 1 commercial space. The apartments range in size and configuration from 35 m² compact living units with large balconies, 2 storey loft apartments on the lower floors with access from the courtyard, more conventional apartments on the corners as well as 2 storey lofts directly under the roof featuring private terraces with cityscape views. The variation of apartment types is easily observed on the fasades which bring an interesting dynamic to the whole neighbourhood. IGGY is a pilot mobility project for the city of Malmö as it actively integrates cycling infrastructure, walking, and public transport directly into the building in order to limit the use of cars in the city. This is achieved through bicycle parking possibilities in the building, large bike friendly elevators, a bike pool as well as a bike workshop. To promote walking in the city, drinking fountains, rain clothes, shoe cleaning infrastructure are provided on the premises as well as a screen showing upcoming busses and trains in the lobby of the building. Landscape design screening the ground floor terraces is exceptionally varied in order to promote and support walking and biking in the city! www.siegel.nu/home/iggy/
